Louis Wynne was first exposed to the world of espionage during the Cuban Missile Crisis when he was a combat intelligence officer in the US Air Force's Strategic Air Command. A couple of years later, perhaps in anticipation of the opening chapters of Deliver Us From Evil, he spent "the longest summer of my life" on the island of Okinawa during the build-up to the heavy bombing of Viet Nam.
He has a Ph.D. in experimental psychology from The Ohio State University, and has done research in primate behavioral pharmacology. His chief interest, though, has been the study of the probable causes of schizophrenia, the care of mental illness, and the psychiatric treatment of the mentally ill without psychotropic medication.
Dr. Wynne is the Four Corners Regional Director of the International Center for the Study of Psychiatry and Psychology. He was Associate Professor of Psychiatry and Adjunct Associate Professor of Psychology at the University of New Mexico School of Medicine, and Clinical Director of the New Mexico State Hospital.
He is now working on the sequel to Deliver Us From Evil that will be titled Deliver Us From Evil II: Hastening Ills.
Lou has a clinical psychology practice in Albuquerque, NM, where he specializes
in existential psychotherapy. He lives with his wife, Sema, a calico cat called
Minnie, and a basset hound who answers to the name Daisy when she feels like
it.
